My Best "Ad" - Pro Capture Photography
the mail this past week! Two wonderful gifts from an author Sherrill S. Cannon. We have only read the first book “Peter and the Whimper-Whineys” so far and they absolutely love it! This book is perfect for my two girls who are 4 years old. I think we read it 4 times the first night and every night since. I haven’t shown them the second book yet but will very soon. Thanks so much Mrs. Cannon!
Also, if you haven’t already, check out Sherrill Cannon’s website and maybe even order a few of her books. They’re great!”

Addie - My Prayer Child
Addie (of Addie’s Angels) is a seven year old child with a beautiful smile and a lot of courage. Addie is fighting JDM (juvenile dermatomyositis) and is a little angel with a lot of heart. I have mentioned her in Gimme-Jimmy as one of my prayer children for whom I wrote the book, and if you get a chance please visit her facebook page at Addie’s Angels – http://www.facebook.com/AddiesAngels – and “like” it, so that she can add to her collection of beans. She gets a new bean in her jar for every new angel that joins! You could also offer a prayer that a cure will be found for this debilitating disease…so that Addie can live the full and happy life that she deserves!

Another nice review for Gimme-Jimmy by Beautiful Books For Children -
Gimme-Jimmy Review by Rivka Kawano, Beautiful Books for Children
If you enjoyed Sherrill Cannon’s award winning “The Magic Word” and “Peter and the Whimper Whineys,” then you are sure to love the next in her series of tales all about manners. Reminiscient of the “Mrs. Piggle Wiggle” books by Betty MacDonald that I enjoyed as a child, “Gimme-Jimmy” will help you teach your children about sharing with a fable about a little boy whose hand grows everytime he says “Gimme!” Jimmy has such a hard time sharing, that his hand (which he uses to grab and snatch from other kids), starts growing like Pinocchio’s nose. Soon he cannot even walk around without tripping over it, and he thinks he is doomed for good. But his father (who warned him this may happen) tells him the secret – which is to say please, share, and be kind to others. As he does these things his hand shrinks back to its normal size, and he is not “Gimme-Jimmy” anymore! Like her other stories, Sherrill Cannon uses rhyme in this book, and is very explicit about what misbehaviour needs to be corrected. A kind parent figure, and a negative side effect are also commonalities between books. If you have a child who is having trouble sharing, this may be the perfect book to talk to them about what happens when we choose not to share. Your hand may not literally get bigger, but other kids won’t want to share with you, and you will end up feeling just as stuck and alone as the character in the book.

Here is the review for Gimme-Jimmy – Thanks to Great Minds Think Aloud and Kitty Bullard
GMTA Review for Gimme-Jimmy
Review: Delightful, adorable and hilarious. When little Jimmy Alexander is warned by his father that his unwillingness to share and his inability to politely ask for things will eventually cause him trouble, he refuses to listen. Until, of course, he realizes that every time he says the word ‘gimme’ his hand grows.
Before long his hand is practically dragging along the floor and he begins to realize that he must change his ways before it is too late.
Sherrill S. Cannon’s books have a fantastic way of telling a story in such a vivid and imaginative way that children will not only learn good morals from her books, but will want to read them and have them read to them, time and time again.
If you are looking for the best possible story books for your child or grandchildren you must look for her books! I have fallen in love with them all and I know you will too!

Great Minds Think Aloud gave me two awesome reviews today.
Review for Peter and the Whimper-Whineys
Here is the review for Peter and the Whimper-Whineys, which made my day!
Review: Yet another fantastic winner of a book from Sherrill S. Cannon. Her stories are written in such a way that children will not only learn from them but love them! Peter and the Whimper Whineys is a beautiful, adventurous and colorful book that retells a timeless story once told by Sherrill’s own mother. The dedication is beautiful and makes us realize just how very special mothers are.
This story teaches children that whining constantly is not only unattractive but can have some very serious repercussions in a cute delightful, light-hearted way that will have them smiling but also teach them a valuable lesson.
Sherrill S. Cannon, I cannot praise you enough for your amazing ability to turn phrase into a whimsical wonderland that children will adore. These books are destined to become a classic in any home. Sherrill S. Cannon is a modern-day Dr. Seuss! I adore her and LOVE her books!
